About Assiniboine Park Conservancy Creating the future vision for one of Winnipeg's most prized treasures, Assiniboine Park Conservancy (APC) located at 55 Pavilion Crescent in Winnipeg is the not-for-profit organization that oversees Assiniboine Park's operations and ensures its ongoing redevelopment and financial viability. Our team is inspired to create and deliver extraordinary experiences for the people who visit and use the Park and Zoo including building friendly, supportive, effective relationships with stakeholders, community and the general public. The Opportunity: We are hiring for General Labourers Seasonal working within the Grounds department. This position will take direction and be under the supervision of a Crew Leader and/or Grounds Supervisor. The General Labourers, under supervision, will provide support and operational assistance to various departments within APC as assigned Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Work with some power equipment and hand tools associated with ground maintenance and landscaping activities. Operate small mowing and some turf maintenance equipment. Assist in the maintenance of APC vehicles and equipment by getting fuel, oils and other lubricants as required. Assist the Equipment Operators with turf care as directed. Assist the Arborists with tree and shrub care maintenance as directed. Assist in turf maintenance, weed control, rake leaves, sweep sidewalks and pathways. Pick up garbage and debris throughout the park. Assist with winterization of fields as directed. Remove snow from roads, sidewalks, parking lots and other areas as directed. Sanding and other winter related duties. Transport and distribute supplies for other departments. Provide assistance and support for all APC events as required. Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required. Required Qualifications and Experience: A high school diploma and/or GED equivalent. Must possess a valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver's License. Basic technology and computer skills. Some work experience performing general labour and operational experience. Previous experience working in teams and dealing with both internal and external customers. Physical Demands and Working Conditions: Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position, working outdoors in all types of weather. Must be able to frequently handle heavy loads of up to 45-50 lbs and the ability to push/pull 50-250 lbs. Documentation of physical capacity may be required. Availability to work days and some evenings and weekends as required. Required to wear APC issued uniforms and provide own safety footwear and inclement weather clothing.
